Interview with Sorrentini, President OF the association
Started 70 years ago next to the volcano Vesuvius, the ‘Assoagenti Campania’ is a professional and expert agency. This year they drink to their 70 years of activity with thirty societies from Campania, these firms represent international brands, expression of renowned ship owners from commercial to yachting.
Born in Naples in 1948, ‘Assoagenti Campania’ has lived the big transformations of the maritime sector and nowadays it is still working on the relaunch of the maritime agents, both local and national. They are dealing with debates on changes and necessities shown in the past years.
At the head of the association is the president Stefano Sorrentini which is going to tell the history of Assoagenti Campania.
President, everything starts in 1948…
“At that time the name was ‘Southern Association, maritime agents of Naples’. After a year it became Federagenti, one of the first national companies. This testifies the constant attention of the Neapolitan maritime community to the membership contents and the value of participation and share. During all these years the role of our firms has been decisive in the growth of the sector of shipping: the great work and the development of our professionalism have let us taken on an important role in the maritime compartment. Assoagenti represents a constant reference point recognized by Institutions and consumers”
What has changed?
“Throughout the years we have assisted at big changes: the market has completely changed, the institutional and regulatory framework has been transformed different times, our activity has progressed but the prospective remains uncertain. Despite these mutations, our association and our firms have been able to progress and give concrete and efficient answers. The association has managed to stay even with the period leading to what it has become now, a unique system which is interested to give an efficient service. In my opinion, this represents an act of big capacity and we should be proud of it”
Different innovations are coming soon.
“During the private toast for the 70 years of activities, it has been presented the new logo created for the anniversary and a dialogue between the historic entrepreneurs has been stabilized. We are getting ready for the renewal of the positions which is going to be held in July and for the next appointment due at the end of the year, in order to share the celebration of the 70 years with companies, institutions, operators of the maritime sector. In fact, we have already planned for December a public moment to share a really important time for the harbor in Campania during which we will recall the most important moments of these 70 years”
