Pietro Giannetti, detto Pierino, da giovane garzone a eccellente imprenditore marittimo. una storia che si materializza a Sapri.
Tutto inizia alla fine degli anni 60, quando l’adolescente Pierino, dopo la tragica morte sul lavoro di suo padre, viene assunto in un distributore di benzina sul mare. Quel distributore di carburante, essendo collocato a pochi metri dal mare, oltre alle auto, serviva pure le barche dei pescatori e quelle da diporto. Il compito di Pierino era quello di allungare la canna di gomma, fino alle imbarcazioni che chiedevano il rifornimento. Spesso, quelle più grandi, visto il basso fondale, non riuscivano ad arrivare fin sotto al distributore: allora Pierino si buttava in acqua e raggiungeva i natanti, allungando la canna dell’erogatore.
Così avvenne il battesimo del mare. All’inizio dei meravigliosi anni ‘70, Sapri aveva già il suo primo braccio di sopraflutto del costruendo porto. eravamo appena all’inizio e da subito, visto che i lavori erano momentaneamente sospesi, Pierino ebbe l’idea di ancorare delle boe per l’attracco dei natanti. Inizia così la grande avventura imprenditoriale, della quale questo anno ricorre il cinquantenario.
Insieme all’amico Domenico Cafiero, recentemente scomparso, decidono di intraprendere questa attività e così divennero soci di fatto. Iniziarono a ripulire tutta l’area del cantiere, al momento sospeso e, anno dopo anno, realizzarono molte migliorie, portandovi perfino l’acqua potabile (prima utilizzavano la vecchia acqua media), distante dal porto circa un chilometro e mezzo. Affrontarono molte spese e prendendo anche qualche denuncia, ma non mollarono e andarono avanti: nel frattempo, i lavori del porto ripresero. Ai due si unirono altri amici e quel lavoro improvvisato cresceva. Si aggiunsero molte altre attività marinare, compreso corsi per palombaro e sommozzatore. lavori che non si svolgevano più solo in estate, ma durante tutto l’anno, producendo reddito per diverse famiglie.
Arriviamo così agli anni ‘80: Pierino chiese la concessione alla Regione per le proprie attività nel costruendo porto. Concessa! Nasceva così la prima azienda nautica della zona: dopo aver sistemato le carte, i successi imprenditoriali si susseguirono e le specializzazioni pure. Ecco Giannetti Group di Giannetti Pietro.
Oggi Giannetti Group è un’eccellenza nel settore marino, molto richiesta e conosciuta anche all’estero, che esegue opere importanti come costruzione di porti; costruzione, posizionamento e gestione di pontili, anche con pannelli fotovoltaici; posizionamento di condotte sottomarine. e tutto ciò che riguarda il mare.
Ha eseguito ed esegue con successo, lavori in Italia e in tanti altri Paesi esteri, come Dubai, negli emirati Arabi, portando il nome Sapri in giro per il mondo. Quest’anno, ricorre il cinquantesimo dalla nascita e, Giannetti Group resta una realtà produttiva in crescita, molto importante a livello internazionale.

Pietro Giannetti, known as Pierino, from a young worker to an excellent maritime entrepreneur. A story that materializes in Sapri.
It all began in the late 1960s when the teenager Pierino, after the tragic work-related death of his father, was hired at a gas station by the sea. That fuel station, being located just a few meters from the sea, served not only cars but also fishing boats and pleasure crafts. Pierino’s job was to extend the rubber hose to the boats requesting refuelling. Often, the larger ones, due to the shallow water, couldn’t get close enough to the station: so Pierino would jump into the water and reach the vessels, extending the dispenser’s hose.
Thus occurred his baptism by sea. At the beginning of the wonderful ’70s, Sapri already had the first breakwater arm of its port under construction. It was just the beginning, and since the work was temporarily suspended, Pierino had the idea of anchoring buoys for mooring the vessels. This marked the beginning of his great entrepreneurial adventure, which celebrates its fiftieth anniversary this year.
Together with his friend Domenico Cafiero, who recently passed away, they decided to undertake this activity and thus became de facto partners. They began to clean up the entire construction site area, which was on hold at the time, and year after year, they made many improvements, even bringing drinking water (they previously used the old utility water), which was about a kilometre and a half from the port. They faced many expenses and even some legal complaints, but they did not give up and persevered: in the meantime, the port construction resumed. Other friends joined the two, and the improvised work grew. Many other maritime activities were added, including courses for deep-sea and scuba divers. This work was no longer just a summer job but continued throughout the year, generating income for several families.
This brings us to the ’80s: Pierino applied for a concession from the Region for his activities in the developing port. It was granted! Thus, the first nautical company in the area was born: after sorting out the paperwork, entrepreneurial successes and specializations followed one after another.

Today, Giannetti Group is an excellence in the marine sector, highly sought after and well-known even abroad, carrying out important works such as port construction; construction, positioning, and management of pontoons, including those with photovoltaic panels; and the laying of underwater pipelines. And everything else related to the sea.
It has successfully executed and continues to execute works in Italy and in many other foreign countries, such as Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, carrying the name of Sapri around the world. This year marks the fiftieth anniversary of its birth, and Giannetti Group remains a growing and very important productive entity on an international level.
